Just started The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly and have broken off from it to read Bite Sized Horror which I'll probably do a review of on my blog.

^ Thanks, will do! I think you need to set up a Google account to be able to leave comments (or sell your soul to the devil or something).

didn't take the coben books. on holiday i read:
'instruments of darkness' - robert wilson, really enjoyed this and might actually prefer his bruce medway books to the later javier falcon's
'the song is you'-megan abbott, decent noir set in early fifties hollywood
'beast of burden'-ray banks, the last of the cal innes books-brilliant
and now i'm halfway through '1980' david peace

Just finished The Concrete Grove - which was brilliant, and Death Rattles which wasn't quite so...

Read a few on holiday:
The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan - Epic, well paced page turner.
The Language of Dying by Sarah Pinborough - Packed an emotional punch. The best writing on disfunctional families since Slights by Kaaron Warren
The Men in Pinstripe Suits and OtherStories by Cate Gardner - Imaginative storytelling that lets you fill in the gaps. Felt occasionally a bit samey when read as a complete collection.
Ill at Ease by Bacon, West and Williams - When you find a Bacon story to be the least satisfying you know it's a great selection. The West edged it for me but only as the ending of the Williams didn't ring quite true with me
Currently on Reality 36 by Guy Haley

finished 'dissonance' by david detzer, historical non-fiction about the weeks between the first shots fired in the american civil war and the first battle of bull run. great stuff and in the most very readable - the best part for me was the description of the rioting in Baltimore as troops (untrained militia) attempted to pass through to defend Washington. read this as part of my intrest in the build up to the civil war, hoping to grab a decent book on bleeding kansas next.
