As some of you are discovering the amazing work of James Cooper I thought he deserved his own thread.
He has another weird, unsettling story in the latest issue of Black Static along with a novella due soon from PS Publishing

Rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors. He creates a wonderful sense of dread and unease without putting anything overtly horrific in his stories. Gets inside your head - and not in a good way.
Can't wait for the novella.

Have you tried his novel? It's quite heavily influenced by Barker. I didn't feel it was quite to the standard of his shorts but I'm looking forward to his next novel 'Smile'
I've corresponded with him by email and he's been kind enough to give me some great advice. Also I'm going to send him one of the review copies of DM to get his thoughts.

According to his website he's just sold a 10K+ word story to PS for the next issue of Postscripts

Finished this the other night and it is superb. A writer at the top of his game. Not a word or phrase is out of place.

It is beautifully written - and very thought-provoking. Not quite what I was expecting but an amazing study of guilt and obsession. A morality play is probably the best description I can come up with given that it pretty much questions what the whole notion of morality is.
