Picked this up at a local used bookstore tonight... kind of surprised to see it here in the states, but oh well. Digging into it tonight. Hope it lives up to the hype-- I paid 7 dollars for it.

Hrm... I've finally finished the first part of the book, Beneath the Remains. Outside of a few minor quibbles, such as the ridiculously overused word, 'bracken', haha, I've enjoyed it. The prose creates an amazingly stifling atmosphere at times, but the characterization falters a bit. I definitely identify with Luke more than the other characters, so i'm kind of glad he's the last one standing. Adam N.'s a pretty good writer, and this book is kind of like a Scandinavian version of Deliverance if written by the bastard child of Algernon Blackwood and Cormac McCarthy. And bring on the torture porn in part two, because despite it being well-written mostly, I'm a little tired of slogging through the thorny, brackeny prose. Hopefully it will be Dom on the recieving end, although appears more likely it's Luke. Those angry amoral bastards have to be punished somehow!
