This has to be one of the best collections of crime shorts by a single author I have ever read. The language is beautiful and the stories unremittingly noir.
The stories are all set in, unsurpringly given the title, the locale of southern Indiana and display a world of rural poverty, crystal meth, dog fighting, men ruined by war, feuds, failed marriages and greed.
I can't recommend this one highly enough - simply stunning and I'm really looking forward to frank Bill's novel 'donnybrook' which will be released early in 2013.
