After thoroughly enjoying "Prayer" by Phillip Kerr recently, and being a huge fan of his Bernie Gunther novels, I picked this up to read during a little holiday in Stockholm. I was not disappointed; this fast paced thriller is hugely entertaining and contains a lot of quotes from and allusions to other writers. There's a lot in the book about writing and the creative process as well treatises on just how far people will go to be "happy". Hugely entertaining and a must for any fiction writer!

Half way through this and really enjoying it. Clever construction and loads of good jokes.

Yes, can't remember the title of the new one need to go back and reread the last one (Prague Fatale, I think) as I couldn't get into that one when I bought it.
There's a Penguin edition entitled "Berlin Noir" which collects the first three novels and is great.

Finished Research - loved it, very, very clever. Will be picking up the Berlin Noir books soon. I actually read Gridiron when it came out, completely forgot about it.

I quite enjoyed Gridiron when I read it a couple of years ago - although it did feel a bit dated and I couldn't get into his sci-fi crime/murder one
