any fans? read and enjoyed a few of his shorts in the last few years and jut finished his 'savage season' novel - great stuff. the first hap and leonard novel and I will be getting the next. quite interested in him as a writer as he writes both crime and horror as I do.

All I think I've read is his short in the Never Again anthology - which was quite the most disturbing thing I've read for a long time. Might be another to add to the "authors to try out" list.

Could have been - been a while since I read it. Starts with some kids chaining a dead dog to the back of their car and gradually gets worse. A whole lot worse...

^ Night They Missed The Horror Show - which has to be the most ironic story title ever.
And yup, snuff movies in a barn do feature...

read two of his novels... 'The Nightrunners'.. which was ok, but not staggeringly impressive... then I read..
'The Bottoms'.. which is a truly beautiful slab of prose. Find it, read it, love it. East Texas coming of age/horror as good as or better than 'Summer of Night' or even, <cough cough> 'It'.

Lansdale's great. Hap and Leonard are brilliant. Cold in July is also excellent. The first two Drive-In novels are bugfuck crazy and a whole lot of fun (wasn't so keen on the third one.) Jonah Hex: Two-Gun Mojo is a great horror-western comic.
