This is the first time I've ever had enough material to submit for a 250-300 page book.
I haven't sent a submission in a long, long, time. I've been too busy with my own site, and with personal crap.
Llewellyn Publishing is pretty huge. They are international and well-represented in any bookstore I've ever been in. I'm kind of expecting a rejection, that sounds weird to say.
I'm hoping that they will like me enough to refer me to an agent, or another publishing house. They are mega-huge, I'm sure they have huge connections.
It's like applying to a huge corporation to be CEO. They may not give you the head job, but if you make them see you as a potential benefit, they may give you another job.
Anyway, Here's my submission letter. I worked hard to keep it to two pages and still try to get my point across. Tell me what you think...

Dear Sirs,
I am a pen-and-ink artist who draws freehand with a Uniball pen. I never use a pencil, any type of straightedge, or technology of any kind. I have sent you 10 large prints (actual size) and 15 reduced-size prints, but I have hundreds of drawings. Over 200 of them are published on my website:
ghastlydoor.com/
Whenever I draw, I think constantly about my audience. How do I hold their interest? I want to reach out to people and tell them a story. They may not know what I’m trying to say, but they know I’m talking to them. I use ancient images and modern symbolism of my own invention. I don’t have rules and I never have a plan.
Book Proposal:
There are three ways my drawings entertain, so this book could be approached in three separate ways:
1) Coloring Book - A modern coloring book for Pagans, both adult and children. My work looks great colored. It’s great meditation, and it’s fun. I envision a coloring contest, with the 12 best entries used in a calendar. The book might present the images on special paper and possibly include suitable pens as a set.
2) Hidden Picture Puzzles – I have included a great many hidden picture puzzles in the packet I’ve sent you. If a title has a number, then it is a hidden picture puzzle. If you look carefully, you will find little figures hidden all around in the drawing. People love these. I definitely have enough for a book of them.
3) Alone, As Art - These drawings catch people’s eye. They can spend a lot of time looking at them.
I envision a book of around 250-300 pages. I have more than enough material to fill each page with illustrations.
Publishing History:
Dissections Magazine, Cambridge University, UK
Sonar 4 Magazine, USA
Bad Moon Rising Magazine, USA
Frightfiction.com, UK
Deadlines Magazine, UK
The Australian Horror Writers Association
Tales from the Smoking Room, UK
And many other small-press horror and sci-fi magazines
My latest publication was in the UK horror anthology, Dark Minds:
www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Minds-Anthology-Gary-McMahon/dp/0956658008/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1306636889&sr=1-1
I run my very own literary magazine, Ghastlydoor.com. Here is my Horror Cartoons Archive page:
ghastlydoor.com/horror-cartoons-archives-2011/
My site has had 60,000 visitors its first year. I publish articles, reviews and stories. I’ve made it to the first page of many Google searches. My site just published interviews with Gary McMahon, Bob Curran, and Juliet McKenna.
Ghost Hunting:
I am also into ghost photography. I’ve caught some cool images and would definitely be interested in including these in any book. My most famous ghost shot, The Wisteria Ghost, is in the first article:
ghastlydoor.com/haunted-photographs/
ghastlydoor.com/haunted-photographs-ii-ghost-hunting-in-montana/
ghastlydoor.com/haunted-photographs-4/.
I look forward to hearing from you. I’m willing to work with you in any way I can.
Yours in Ghastly anticipation,
Will Jacques
