one of the best collections crime/noir or otherwise i have ever read - 615 pages and no stories that felt like filler! this would be a brilliant volume for anyone to pick up - especially if someone was new to hard boiled/noir fiction. great stories from some wonderful writers.
the stories run from stuff published since 1923 up until 2007. Some of the better known names who have stories in here are: James M Cain, Mickey Spillane, Evan Hunter, Jim Thompson, Cornell Woolrich, David Morrell, Patricia Highsmith, James Elroy, Harlan Ellison, Jeffrey Deaver, Dennis Lehane snd Elmore leonard (strangely it was probably Leonard's story i liked the least, but not because it was bad simply that all the stories were of such a high calibre it came off worst). 35 brilliant stories for £9.99!!
