On my hols I read:
Silent Voices by Gary McMahon - His best novel to date IMO
Blood Ocean by Weston Ochse - Supreme prose but didn't really grab me and the characters were a little indistinct.
Wild Justice Edited by Ellen Datlow - Mixed bag of a themed antho with Michael Marshall Smith's story the standout.
The Acceptable Face of Tyrany by Gary Fry - Well written and inteligent creepiness from a consistently good proponent of the short form.
Osama by Lavie Tidhar - An exeptional novel that just engrossed from start to finish.
And half way through The Alchemist of Souls by Anne Lyle which I'm enjoying immensely

I've just finished reading Osama, and it's magnificent. Nowadays when I read it's always with a critical eye, and it's very rare for a novel to actually transport me into its world. Osama did that.
I was about fifty pages from the end when I went to a panel at Eastercon in which Lavie Tidhar was speaking; throughout it I was poised to clap my hands over my ears in case he revealed any spoilers!

I'm reading Game of Thrones. Quite good so far. Can't even remember what I read the holidays. Going back to work yesterday made me forget all the nice things I did this holiday. Ugh.
