about halfway through and really enjoying this - to me this is very different to his previous novel which I have read (meat). So far this is reminding me of classic horrors from the 80s and really seems to be a 'throwback' even in terms of 'steaming sex scenes'! if you enjoyed herberts stuff like 'the dark' you'll love this.
this novel combined with the recent nevill releases really makes me think that a 'new' horror scene is developing in terms of being able to pick up high quality stuff in mainstream book shops.
more as i read but thoughts are always appreciated - just no spoilers till im done!!!

Finished it this week. Proper ""old school" horror with some brilliant set pieces and a nice reworking of the vampire trope. The "sex" scenes are graphic but absolutely integral to the plot - and I've used inverted commas for a reason... Very cinematic, some startling images. Enjoyed it very much.
