Read this after getting some compelling recommendations. It is a gripping and emotional read that genuinely shocks.
Published in 1974 the author died two years later due to illness from alcoholism leaving three further, unfinished, novels which has made this a bit of a cult book.
On the evidence of this book he could have easily been as successful as King.
Worth searching out a copy.
