Sad, sad news. I remember when I was first trying to learn more about the UK small presses I read one of Joel's stories in 'The Third Alternative' (which later became Black Static) which blew me away. Never read a bad story from him and 50 is far far too young - sad days.

A sad, sad day for the UK small press scene. Nice that he got some recognition with the World Fantasy Award for Best Collection this year. An underrated gem.

and for those who can pick it up his crime collection 'do not pass go' is a must, worth the price for 'rituals' alone
