I thought it was a solid opener and stayed pretty faithful to the first graphic novel

FX - Channel 164. If you have Sky+ they are showing the first episode on Sky Anytime.

So much better than the comics. Mostly because it spends much less time on right wing gun politics, and more time actually dealing with the horrors of the end of the world, walking corpses, and thinking your family are dead...
