read two of his books now and think he is well worth reading.
'the getaway' - the peckinpah/mcqueen fil has always been a favourite but the book is very different, muh darker. i found myself rooting for the psychotic killer following Doc as you come to understand what made Rudy the way he is an the difference in that Doc chose to be like he is. The ending is superb and gives the story a very very dark spin.
'the killer inside me' - thought this was amazing, one of the best books i have read recently. Getting in the mind of Lou Ford is an oddplace and again i found myself routing for him against the odds even though he is what he is. Really want to see the new film version of this (critics walked out in disgust) which never got a theatrical release in the UK.

very good film version, not quite as good as the book but then that's always pretty rare...
i can see the scene where the critics walked out...and yes i thought it was pretty brutal. but all in all a good film and one that deserved a better release than it got. apparantly the 'violence to women' etc really damaged it getting out there BUT if you read the book and watch the film it really isn't about that.
