Started off with Guthrie's 'Savage Night' and when I finished I really wasn't too sure about his style since then I've picked up 'Slammer' and more recently 'Two Way Split' both of which feature some absoloutely mental characters (Robin/Don in Two Way Split being my favourite) who really make the stories work. If you like pulpy crime/noir in a distinctly British voice I would encorouge you to check out Mr Guthrie - he's also an editor/agent who brought us the likes of Ray Banks so he'd be a good egg without having written some pretty decent stuff himself.
