Best novels, novellas, shorts and films please.
Obviously I've read the Parker books with their beautifully grotesque undercurrents, Falling Angel (and the film version Angel Heart) is excellent, Kings 'Thinner' can be sort of classed in this and Kill List astounded me. But what else!?

James Lee Burke (a major influence on John Connolly) uses supernatural elements in some of his Dave Robicheaux novels. Black Cherry Blues and In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead spring to mind. From what I hear his Billy Bob Holland series also uses supernatural elements but I've not read any of them yet.
Fatale by Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips is a Lovecraftian noir comic.
Hitman by Garth Ennis and John Mcrea is set in the same universe as Superman and Batman but features horror elements in amongst the John Woo shoot-outs and irreverent humour.
From Dusk Till Dawn. I didn't even need to mention this, did I?

cheers - i think the robicheaux films had put me off reading the books but might have to give them a go now. actually been reading a lot of comics/graphic novels that fall into this 'sub genre'.

Any crime-horror comics you would recommend?

just thought of another one - "London's Dark" set during the blitz and features mediums, murder and some really good art work

The James Robinson one? I've read that but I don't think I own a copy.

yeah written by James Robinson with art from Paul Johnson, picked it up for about £3 in discount book warehouse. really liked it, reminded me a lot of the early 200ad stuff - and given it was originally published in '89 that's probably why!
