finished this last week, a lovely piece of Manchester noir.
an ex-con (Cal Innes) who has fallen into budget PI work is drawn back to working for the crime family who get him sent down when he is asked to find a croupier/dealer from an illegal gambling club who has absconded with £10,000 (and maybe more than just the money).
told in 'double' first person from the view of Cal and also Mo, the son of Uncle Morris Tiernan and all round psychopath.
really good stuff, very very dark in parts when it touches on both the narrators pasts and i'm looking forward to picking up the next one.

finished the second in the series 'donkey punch' a few days ago, really liked it. not quite as good as the first but still well above average. looking forward to getting the next and trying to find the Cal Innes short stries.

found the fourth book 'beast of burden' in a bookshop in malta. really ends the series with a bang. much better for me than 'donkey punch' and this one goes back to the double first person narrative this time split between cal innes and lain 'donkey' donkin. great stuff.
